Our Story

Welcome to Fly Short Final, a photography project many years in the making. As a pilot who’s had the great fortune of being able to fly around this beautiful country of ours, I’ve wanted to find a way to share my favorite view — the final approach to an airport’s runway.

The United States of America has nearly 20,000 airports, with around 15,000 private and 5,000 public, and just 10% of those serving commercial passengers. Most of the flying public, usually sitting in the back of a large jet looking out the side windows, has never experienced what it’s like to see what a pilot sees.

Our mission is to share the beauty of these national treasures, inspiring people to cherish and protect them as vital parts of our national identity.

About Us

We’re Alex, Pam, and Dexter. We love exploring our beautiful country by air in our trusted aircraft - a 1976 Cessna 182P. Combining our passions for aviation and photography has led us on quite the journey to explore and photograph many of the unique and diverse airports that we’re extraordinarily lucky to have here in America, and we're so excited to share them with you.
